Nelson District Credit Union Supports Opening of Day Hospice Program in Nelson

The Kalein Hospice Centre Society and the Nelson & District Hospice Society have partnered to launch a new day hospice entitled The Kalein Day Hospice Program. The program is designed to provide supportive programming for upstream adult palliative care clients, peer support and respite for their caregivers.

We are very grateful for the generous donation given by Nelson District Credit Union through their Community Investment Program, the money will help to fund our Day Hospice Program, through which our upstream palliative clients and caregivers will receive the care and support they need to increase their quality of life. The funding will make a tremendous difference in the lives of caregivers, patients and their families living in the Basin.

Tom Atkins, NDCU Manager – Marketing and Relationship Development: “In the spirit of cooperation, we focus on the needs of our members and our communities. The seventh principle of co-operation, Concern for Community, resonates with this project. NDCU is a part of the community, and we recognize the importance of supporting socially conscious and innovative initiatives. This includes our recent multi-year pledge to the Kalein Day Hospice Program to ensure it becomes a sustainable initiative supporting those requiring palliative care.”

Tom Murray, NDCU CEO – “Nelson & District Credit Union is pleased to support this initiative. We recognize that our communities are aging and the ability to gracefully and supportively provide compassionate upstream palliative care is of great benefit to individuals, families, caregivers and the community.”
