Interim Program Manager
Originally from southern Ontario, I lived in Geneva, Switzerland for 12 years before moving our family to Nelson in 2007. I am passionate about supporting seniors in our region, and look forward to working with the Team at Kootenay Seniors to implement even more Programs to benefit our aging population.
I am thrilled to be working at Kootenay Seniors. I believe elders are an important resource in our communities that deserve services and attention. I have a passion for assisting and empowering people. I worked for several years with victims of power-based crimes. I volunteer with hospice and am an End of Life Doula. I grew up on the coast and moved to the Kootenays in 2009. Gardening and spending time with my friends, family and animals is where you’ll find me when I’m not working.
Interim Home Support
I grew up in Manitoba moved to Nelson about 2 years ago to be closer to my family. I have always worked with seniors and feel very fortunate to be hired with Kootenay Seniors a job I am very passionate about.
I am passionate about bringing people together and creating connections for folks in my community. I thrive when I can support community initiatives with my organizing skills. When I’m not spending my time caring for my community you can find me outside enjoying the beautiful landscape of the Kootenay region.
Practicum Student with Kootenay Seniors’
I’m delighted to be completing my practicum with Kootenay Seniors this spring and summer. I’m currently completing a Masters of Social Work through the University of Calgary, with a specialization in International and Community Development. I’ll be supporting various initiatives with Kootenay Seniors, including helping out with developing a new Wig Lending Program, and supporting the development of the Snow Shoveling and Home Handyperson Programs, among other activities. Although I will be completing my practicum virtually, I hope to still get to know the community through phone and email over the summer!
