LOCAL SPONSORS SUPPORT SENIORS FAIR

From the left: Alyssa Foote (NDCU), Karla Whitaker (NDCU), Corrine Younie (Nelson CARES), and Brenda Jones (NDCU)

Nelson & District Credit Union, Columbia Basin Trust, and Nelson Community Response Network each recently made a generous cash donation to the 2016 Kootenay Seniors Fair. The Prestige Lakeside Resort & Convention Centre is also sponsoring the event, providing a great venue and other amenities at a significantly reduced rate.
The annual event celebrating National Seniors Day was launched last year, led by the Kootenay Seniors Service Provider Group, a project of Nelson Community Services Centre. The Group is organizing the Fair again this year, now under the umbrella of Nelson CARES’s Age Friendly Community Initiative.
The 2nd Annual Nelson & Area Kootenay Seniors Fair is being held Friday September 30th, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the Prestige Lakeside Resort & Convention Centre. The event will feature 30+ vendor tables offering information about a wide variety of seniors’ services including health, community services, transportation, housing, active living and social participation. There will also be on-site health services, participatory dance and yoga demonstrations, transit orientations aboard a bus, musical performances and much more. There are still vendor tables available and volunteers are needed to help on event day.
For information about the 2016 Kootenay Seniors Fair, including inquiries about vendor tables or volunteering, please contact Corrine at 250-352-2708, ext. 11 or seniorsproject@nelsoncares.ca
