Medical Services Plan
In Canada, public health insurance is available to eligible residents. Canadian citizens and permanent residents can apply for provincial health insurance.
In B.C., public health insurance is called the Medical Services Plan – or MSP. It covers the cost of medically-necessary insured doctor services. Residents pay monthly MSP rates, which help meet a portion of the costs of B.C.’s health-care system. Each month, you will be sent an invoice for the premiums you owe for the next month.
